ARM Cortex-M55

The ARM Cortex‑M55 is a high-efficiency, 32-bit microcontroller core based on the Armv8.1-M architecture, designed to bring advanced DSP and AI capabilities to edge devices. It is the first Cortex‑M core to support Arm’s Helium vector processing technology, enabling significantly enhanced machine learning (ML) and digital signal processing (DSP) performance—ideal for intelligent sensing, voice recognition, and low-power edge AI applications.

Ambiq integrates the Cortex‑M55 core in its next-generation Apollo SoCs, such as Apollo510, combining this powerful core with their proprietary SPOT® technology. These SoCs deliver performance up to 250 MHz with dramatically improved energy efficiency, enabling up to 30× better AI/ML performance compared to Cortex‑M4-based systems—all while maintaining ultra-low power operation for wearables, hearables, and other battery-sensitive designs.
