Isolator RS232, 1kV Industry
The model 88205 Isolator enables galvanically isolated connection of RS232 devices. It includes its own power source via active RS232 interface, so that operation even on power-weak RS232 ports is possible without any problems.

For longer lines, it is almost impossible to prevent potential shifts between the interfaces of the connected devices. Differences in potential can result from distant lightning bolts but can also be caused during normal operation by switching of high-powered electrical devices in the vicinity. In the event of a potential shift, the data line acts as an equalizing line. Potential differences of as little as 7 V can already lead to interference during data transmission. Differences of more than 30 V are likely to damage the interface components. The use of electrical isolation for connections over very long distances is therefore a vital measure, which considerably increases the service life of the connected devices.
