NAND flash market extremely tight. What this means for your projects...

Over the past weeks we have been informed by several suppliers and market sources that the global NAND flash market has moved into a very tight situation. Due to high demand, prices for NAND have increased significantly, with some manufacturers announcing double digit price hikes and even individual cases of up to 50% increases on certain NAND based products.

This development affects a wide range of components that many of our partners use every day: SSDs, eMMC, UFS, memory cards and other NAND based storage.

What is happening in the NAND market

Several trends are coming together at the same time:

  • Major manufacturers have reduced output and are keeping inventories low, which has removed the buffer that previously kept prices stable.
  • Demand from AI data centers and cloud infrastructure is absorbing a large part of the available NAND and storage capacity.
Analysts describe this as one of the tightest memory markets in years.
  • For all NAND products lead-times are increasing and manufacturers making choices whos is getting their products and who isn't.
  • Many manufacturers have discontinued their small NAND devices (8GB to 64GB)

Some suppliers indicate that a large part of their NAND output for 2026 is already allocated, and that shortages could extend well into 2027 if demand stays at the current level. Source: TrendForce

Impact for our partners

For ongoing and upcoming projects this can have several effects:

  • Higher prices for NAND based products in your BOM
  • Longer lead times and less flexibility on short term orders
  • Risk of allocation or limited availability on specific densities or form factors
  • More difficulty to secure volume for ramp ups or new product introductions

Especially if your application depends on specific industrial SSDs, eMMC, UFS or embedded storage, this is something that needs attention early in the design and planning phase.

What TOP-electronics is doing

We are:

  • Monitoring the NAND and memory market closely with our manufacturers
  • Make sure orders are places in time to get parts allocated
  • Working closely with our customers and discuss market pricing
  • Checking availability and alternatives for key storage products in our portfolio
  • Looking at second-source options where this is technically and commercially feasible
  • Discussing buffer stock and framework agreements case by case

We cannot change the global market situation, but we can work with you to reduce risk and to keep surprises out of your project planning as much as possible.

What we ask from you

To support you properly in this tight market, we need visibility.
If we have not already contacted you, please reach out to your usual contact at TOP-electronics.

Share with us:

  • Your current and expected annual demand for NAND based products (per type and density)
  • Critical projects and milestones where storage is a potential bottleneck
  • Flexibility in specifications, for example alternative capacities, form factors or qualified second sources
  • Any last time buy or migration plans that involve legacy storage solutions

The earlier we have this information, the better we can search for the best solution for you, reserve capacity where possible, and advise on technical alternatives.

If you want to discuss your specific situation, please contact us directly.
We are ready to review your designs, your demand forecast and possible sourcing strategies together.
