Like all models in the Highspeed series, The Com-Server Highspeed 20mA model 58642 offers everything you need for directly connecting a serial 20mA/TTY interface to the Ethernet. The supply voltage can be provided per IEEE 802.3af (Power-over-Ethernet) through the network cable, with both phantom power over the data pairs and power over the wire pairs unused in 10/100BT supported. Alternately an external power supply can be connected to the screw terminals.
Configuration and management of the Com-Server are handled by Telnet, SNMP or from an Internet browser and the built-in Web-Based-Management.
COM Port Redirector
The W&T COM Port Redirector for Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP/2003 also gives serially operating Windows programs the ability to communicate over the network. Virtual COM ports are installed on the system which behave like standard COM ports with respect to the applications. Communication with the terminal device is now however over the network and a Com-Server.
